About

Dara Art Gallery is a Sudanese art gallery founded in late 1999 by the artists Rashid Diab and Mercedes Carmona at their house in Khartoum. They envisioned the creation of a space where artists from Sudan could exhibit their work in a profesional manner. Since its opening it has been host to many of the great Sudanese artists including Ibrahim Al-Salahi, Yassir Abu-El-Haram, Hussein Gamaan, Ahmad Mohamad Shibrain and many more. In the early 2000s there were painting courses available by Mercedes and works created in these have also been displayed during the years. In 2005 Rashid Diab opened the Rashid Diab Arts Centre. That space was then designated to furthering the opportunities for Sudanese artists that Dara Art Gallery once offered.
