
Dr. Rashid Diab was born in a town on the Blue Nile, Wad Medani, Sudan 1957. Since a young age he knew that his destiny was to paint. No other option seemed possible and today he is known as one of the most important figures in Sudanese fine art. Graduated in Fine Art from the University of Khartoum to then be awarded a scholarship to Madrid. There he enrolled in the Complutense University of Madrid where he aquired two degrees in the mid 80s, one in painting and another in etching. Then in 1991 he received his PHD in Philosophy of Art from the same university where he would teach the rest of the decade. In 1999 after 20 years in Spain he returned back to Sudan where he opened Dara Art Gallery along with his wife Mercedes Carmona. He has exhibited in all corners of the world and continues to do so in a prolific manner.
