June 15th to the 18th Sudan was represented by seven contemporary artists at the Aurora Art Culture Biennial 2024. Dara Art Gallery is managing Sudan’s participation and is also sponsoring the event along with the Almas Art Foundation. Without the support of the former and the latter Sudan would have missed out on joining their fellow arabic speaking countries in this event. We strive ever more as a nation to promote our culture, identity and values, the war in Sudan is not what defines us. Our identity goes beyond the politics that plague us in the present.
The selection of artists for this biennial had to be diverse, as it normally is with Sudanese art. We have veterans of the art scene, others that had been living a long time in the diaspora and some that came up with the artistic surge that the 2018 December revolution brought and now are forced out of their homes.
