A see’er
Raised by two painters and African art theoreticians, Dar Al Naim seems to have had no chance but to be a creative. From a young age already neck deep in art she quickly developed her skills and finished her higher education gaining an honorary degree in printmaking and bookbinding from Oxford Brookes University. The academy however was just a formality.
In reality her theoretical and practical knowledge of art exceeds the limits of traditional art, constantly delving into the deepest and many times uncomfortable encounters with the truth, posing questions and creating dialogues of philosophical value.
Dar Al Naim’s work concentrates on topics such as; the exploration of the human condition, dealing with all the darker, deeper side of emotions that are carried by survivors of war, migration and human injustice overall. Specifically focusing on bringing to light the voice of the unheard, responding to questions of loss, homelessness cultural/social and personal identity. She does this through meticulous and highly empathic hand pressed prints, ink drawings and mixed media paintings. She is currently residing in Spain.
